Professor Hassan Abdalla (Provost)

Professor Abdalla is currently the Provost of the University of East London. Prior to that, he was Pro Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching and the College of Technology and Innovation; and Executive Dean of the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering. He is an international authority in the field of Smart/Future Cities, Disruptive Technologies, Brain-Computer Interface (BCI), and Autonomous Systems with over 25 years of experience in both academia and industry.

Professor Matt Bellgard 
(Pro-Vice Chancellor Impact & Innovation) 

Professor Bellgard is Pro Vice-Chancellor for Impact and Innovation at University of East London (UEL) leading and implementing the university’s Research Strategy. He holds extensive expertise in artificial intelligence, bioinformatics and digital innovation and has co-authored 165 articles, is co-inventor of 7 full patents, and was project director to design and commission a world’s top-100 supercomputer.

Professor David Tann 
(Dean of School/Vice-Provost (Technology)) 

Professor David Tann is Vice Provost (Technology) and Executive Dean of the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering at the University of East London. With over thirty years in UK higher education, he has led in teaching, research, and management. A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, his research focuses on structural strengthening and sustainability. He has held senior roles at several universities and maintains strong international, professional, and public service engagements.

General Co-Chair

Dr Seyed Ali Ghorashi 
(Director of Impact and Innovation of ACE) 

Dr Ghorashi is a reader in Computer Science and Digital Technologies in the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering at the University of East London. He has more than twenty years of experience in industry and academia on optimisation, resource allocation, and applications of AI in Internet of Things, Positioning, Cellular and Ad-Hoc Networks. He is a senior member of IEEE and published more than 120 journal and conference papers and have been involved in National and European projects.  

Technical Programme Chair

Professor MD Atiqur Rahman Ahad 

Professor Ahad is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Champion of Research and Innovation in the Department of Computer Science and Digital Technologies at University of East London. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Senior Member of OPTICA (formerly OSA), Member of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), and Member of IAPR (International Association for Pattern Recognition). He was also a Professor (former) at University of Dhaka, and a Visiting Professor (former) at Brawijaya University.

Professor Amirali Baniasadi

Professor Baniasadi is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Victoria, Canada, where he also serves as Electrical Engineering Programming Director. He has also held visiting professorships at Stanford University and the University of California. His research focuses on computer architecture, low-power systems, parallel computing, and emerging technologies such as quantum engineering. He has published extensively in leading journals and conferences and has served on numerous program committees and editorial boards. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM.

Professor Bal Virdee

Professor Virdee is a Senior Professor of Communications Technology, with extensive academic and industrial experience. He has held academic posts at the Open University and the University of Leeds, later joining London Metropolitan University where he has served as Academic Leader and, since 2012, as Professor of Communications Technology. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), a Senior Member of the IEEE (SMIEEE), a Chartered Engineer (CEng), and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Dr Mohammad Hossein Amirhosseini

Dr Amirhosseini is an Associate Professor in Computer Science and Digital Technologies, and the Apprenticeship Lead in the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering. He has contributed to national and international granted research projects and has published papers in different renown journals and international conferences. He has been the main organiser and chair of different special sessions at international conferences, guest editor of special issues in international refereed journals, and the reviewer for different journals, conferences, and grant competitions.

Mr Yasir Imran

Yasir Imran is a multiple award-winning Marketing leader who has worked in various global and regional brands across Banking & Financial Services, Built Environment and Creative & Design. Yasir is a Business Sustainability Management pass-out from the University of Cambridge, UK, a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and an MBA with over 23 years of experience in brand management, marketing strategy, digital marketing, advertising, campaign management, customer experience, media planning, sports & celebrity monetisation, partnerships and event management.
 

Dr Hasan Baig 

Dr Baig is a Senior Lecturer and the course leader for MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering in the Department of Engineering and Construction at University of East London. He is also the champion for the Careers and Enterprise in the department. With over 12 years of experience in sustainable energy, he is an expert in designing and manufacturing photovoltaic technologies, solar heating and cooling technologies, space-based solar, hydrogen and desalination technologies. 

Communication Chair

Mr Gaurav Malik
(Director of Education and Experience of School) 

Mr Malik is an ISEB Certified Green IT trainer and holds several Cloud certifications. He has served on several panels for programme validation and has vast experience in the areas of collaboration and recruitment.  He has delivered talks for both public and private clients in various areas including social media, green IT, cloud computing, and virtualisation. He is an External Panel Member at Southampton Solent University, an AWS Cloud Ambassador, and a MSLE Educator Ambassador.
